I’m so thrilled you have visited my site and hope that you will join me on a journey to grow your dance fitness business!
So you are now an instructor! Congratulations!
You have either completed your certification for Zumba, Piloxing, Pound or any other dance fitness instructor certification course.
I am a licensed Zumba Instructor and have been running my Zumba business full time since 2009. It has been my primary source of income to raise my two little boys. You might get to meet them later 😉
I have always had a team around me. I actually didn’t start teaching until 2013!
Over this period of time I have made, many, many mistakes! I get it! I truly do! I’ve had the lion’s share of drama and troubles and have managed to pull through them all!
I would love to help new people starting out, so you don’t have to make all the mistakes I did!
Here is the run down…. my husband at the time, a muscly brasilian guy, was the first person to bring Zumba Fitness to where we lived (a relatively small town of 60,000 people) when Zumba first boomed in Australia.
We had a thriving business with over 100 people in every class at about 7 classes a week! This wasn’t rare. It was like this for most of the early adopters of Zumba in Australia back in 2009-2010.
I was the one with all the degrees and work experience from agencies all over the world such as the United Nations, U.S. AID, Aus AID – and I was 8 months pregnant….so naturally, I became the behind the scenes admin girl and he was the star instructor.
We had a good gig going.
We managed to put together a great application and he was successful in getting the first Zumba Education Specialist (ZES) job that was advertised in Australia! Yipppiiii…things were going well!
While he was away, we started hiring instructors who he trained and who took the classes most of the time. Eventually he was away pretty much all of the time so I became a kind of manager to all the instructors who worked for us.
In the Zumba celeb type world, its tough on couples, especially ones with new babies and we split up when I was pregnant with my second child.
Luckily all the instructors continued to work for me as my husband set up his own classes close to where mine were being held…..hmmmm tough times ..huh! I told you I had been through a lot!
To cut a long story short, we succeeded and continue to hold strong classes to this very day!
When my second child was about 1 year old, I was left with no instructors so I had to step up to the daunting task of actually teaching a class! This was scary as hell, and I still remember the only thing that drove me was a burning desire to succeed. I remember thinking. I will teach or I will die trying. If I am going to go down, I’ll go down fighting!
I thought I would just try it and it was hard for a while to feel like “me” because really it was ‘his” thing from the start. But then magic started to happen. I started to really come out of my shell and be that silly, spontaneous, fun loving girl again that had been oppressed for many years!
I kind of cruised along for a while, not taking the business too seriously, until I decided that I didn’t want to get a “real job” again.
The thought petrified me!
So I embarked on a ravenous journey to transform my ‘sustainable’ business into one of growth.
I enrolled in Australia’s number one leading education provider for entrepreneurship (and perhaps the world) and began to transform my business structure.
I became a hermit and literally gobbled up 100’s of hours of online business webinars, courses, podcasts, audio books, e-books, guides, anything that I thought might contain valuable information that I could use to grow my business.
I joined every group you could imagine and decided to really make it happen.
I learned so much stuff and slowly began implementing it. That was the hard part! Then I tested to see what worked, and what didn’t work.
Finally now, I have figured out a whole new set of systems and structures that make my business run and grow more automatically.
The key is truly in the systems and processes.
Now I would like to share with you these systems and processes that you too can easily implement to make your business grow too!
I am the eternal student and dedicated to always moving ahead. I hope you will join me on this journey!
